Founded in 1988, Giltwood Restoration undertakes all aspects of oil and water gilding, from antique furniture and frames to modern architectural work. One of our specialities is picture frame conservation for museums and galleries, both ongoing maintenance work and restoration of complete collections during renovation and rebuilding works.
Clients include the Royal Institution, the RIBA Drawings Collection at the V & A, the Foundling Museum, the Wellcome Trust and the UK Supreme Court. We also work for churches, livery companies, antiques dealers and private clients including contemporary designers.
The practice is run by Martin Body who is a full specialist member of BAFRA - the British Antique Furniture Restorers Association. The practice is also listed on the Conservation Register.
Illustrated details of our work can be seen by clicking on the menu to the left. All images on the site are clickable thumbnails. From time to time we run gilding courses for small groups.
